Theme Studio: Colors, Fonts, Backgrounds and Layouts
Restyle a whole deck in one place. Change colors, fonts, type sizes, backgrounds, the header and footer, and the layouts, and tell the AI how to use your theme.
Theme Studio changes the look of every slide at once. Your words do not move. In the web app and on the desktop, click Theme to open it.
The design lives in a master file. The master format is part of the Slaide core, which is open source under Apache-2.0 on GitHub. To edit the master as text, see Themes.
Change the look of the deck
- Click Theme.
- Pick a part: Colours, Type, Header & footer or Animations. The layouts show as tiles in the template strip.
- Change a value. Colors, fonts and type sizes show on the slides at once.
- Save. Backgrounds, layouts and animations apply when you save and reload.
Colors
Edit the palette, the color roles, and the gradients. A role such as the page color points to a palette color, so one change moves every slide that uses it.
Fonts and type
- Open Type.
- Set the font family, the provider and the weights for each font role. The provider can be
google, localorsystem. - Set the base size and the ratio of the type scale. Each step in the scale follows from them.
On a slide, the font list in the ribbon offers three groups: the theme fonts, web-safe fonts, and Google Fonts. A Google font loads when you pick it.
Backgrounds
A background is solid, gradient or image. Name it, then pick it for a layout.
- Open the backgrounds section.
- Click + Add background.
- Choose the type and set the color, the stops and angle, or the image.
Header and footer
The header and footer are bands with a left, a center and a right text, and a logo. Open Header & footer and set the text, the size, the color, the side padding and the logo position. You can also drag a band up or down. An empty field removes the text.
Layouts and variants
A layout sets where the title, text and pictures sit. A picture area or a chart area shows with its own glyph in the tile. A variant overrides the colors for the slides that use it.
Tell the AI how to use the theme
In the AI guidance section, write the rules for your theme in plain words. The AI reads them when it builds a deck with this theme. A counter shows the length against a limit of 4000 characters. The AI cuts off text past the limit, so keep the guidance below it.
Themes on the phone
In the mobile app, the library has a Themes tab. See that page for the steps.
